尊厳と普遍
国も、民族も、文化も、芸術も、宗教も
分断され、体系化され、言語化され、数値化され、合理化され、消費され
その役割を終える
顕微鏡の中から宇宙に至る生命活動は
混沌し、誕生し、増殖し、膨張し、循環し、縮小し
その螺旋の中で他と違わずに消滅する
一鑿、一鑿、私は魂を刻む
零れ落ちた人間の尊厳を掬い上げ、彫刻に閉じ込める
彫刻は記憶し、その魂は永遠に振動し続ける
人間の野生と、歴史と、衝動と、慟哭と、祈りとを携えて
私は近代への呪術師となる
私は夢想する。
文明が滅び、再び発見されることを。
Dignity and Universality
Nations and peoples, cultures and arts, faiths and gods - all are sundered and ordered, named and counted, bound into reason, consumed by time, and having fulfilled their roles, they fade into silence. From the microscope to the cosmos, life unfolds in chaos: it is born, it proliferates, it swells and turns, it wanes and folds back upon itself - and within that eternal spiral, it vanishes as all things must. One chisel stroke, then another - I carve the soul. I gather the dignity spilled from humankind, what has fallen and been forgotten, and seal it within sculpture. The suclpture remembers what the world forgets, and that soul continues to vibrate for eternity. Bearing human wildness, history, impulse, lamentation, and prayer, I become a sorcerer of the modern age. I dream: that civilization shall perish, and in its demise, shall be discovered once more.
